1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale - $12,900 - Grand Rapids, MI -
It is our pleasure to present this family-owned, garage-kept, and surviving-example: 1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible, finished in light green over white interior. The car has 47,500 original miles and remains in great appearance and driving condition. This is an un-restored example that has been passed down in one Michigan family and treated with care. It is turn-key ready and the perfect summer cruiser.
From the factory, it features an AM/FM stereo, factory air conditioning, and well-working power convertible top. It is equipped with GM’s 170hp 350ci V8 engine with four bbl. carburetor, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and a driver’s side remote mirror. This exceptional original car offers the collector and/or enthusiast an excellent opportunity to acquire a highly desirable and relatively untouched example of Oldsmobile’s top of the line convertible of the era. Call or e-mail today for more information.
Oldsmobile in the 1970s was something of a marketing marvel. Consistently third in sales – behind Chevrolet and Ford – it was selling mostly rebadged versions of cars that were available for less with the Chevrolet nameplate. The marketers at Oldsmobile figured out that America was ready to pay a little more for an upscale car, and they hit the mark squarely, year after year.
The division’s slogan helped, too: “Not your father’s Oldsmobile.” Intended to polish the brand’s image among younger and more affluent buyers, it was helped by a slate of performance Oldsmobiles, like the Cutlass 442. The aura spread to other models, and suddenly, owning an Olds was cool.
GM completely redesigned the B body car in 1971, and as a result, Oldsmobile’s full size cars emerged larger and heavier – as big as American cars would ever get, in fact. Styling was more smoothly rounded, marked by curved “fuselage” bodysides, massive hoods, and broad expanses of glass. The big Oldsmobiles continued in this form through 1976, with mostly minor year-to-year changes to meet safety and emission requirements.
